BOBBY RHINE PACES BURN TO 3-0 WIN OVER DC UNITED

Jordan Registers League-High-Tying Fifth Shutout of Season

DALLAS  - Burn forward Bobby Rhine scored one goal and assisted on two others as the Dallas Burn defeated DC United, 3-0, Saturday afternoon at the Cotton Bowl.  With the victory, the Burn's second consecutive shutout and fifth of the season, Dallas (5-5-1, 16 points) is now only point back of the first-place Chicago Fire in the Central Division, pending the Fire's game tonight vs. Columbus.

The Burn came out firing in the first half, outshooting United 11-2 and 7-0 in shots on goal.  Dallas tallied the game-winner in the 17th minute as Jason Kreis sent a corner kick into the box for Bobby Rhine.  Rhine back-heeled the cross to the back post where Ryan Suarez got to the ball just before United 'keeper Mike Ammann and slid it into the net for his first career MLS point.  Just eleven minutes later the Burn doubled its lead with Rhine again figuring in the scoring.  Jorge Rodriguez sprung Ariel Graziani down the left flank.  Graziani brought the ball into the box and sent a cross into the center of the box.  Rhine broke free from defender Eddie Pope and headed the ball into the goal for a 2-0 Burn lead.  The Burn rounded out the scoring in the 73rd minute.  Graziani received a ball from Rhine on the right side of the field and immediately sent a through ball to Antonio Martinez on the left side of the box.  Martinez, who came on as a substitute just one minute earlier, took one touch before sending a left-footed rocket into the upper-right corner of the goal

"Bobby's been sharp and obviously deserves to be in the lineup," said Burn Head Coach Mike Jeffries.  "He did a good job showing for the ball and Ariel and Jason were both very active.  Those three caused some problems for DC."

The Burn's next match is at Colorado next Saturday, June 16 at 8:00 p.m. in a game televised on KSTR.
