BURN AND GALAXY PLAY TO SCORELESS TIE Burn Goalkeeper Matt Jordan Comes Up Big in Shutout PASADENA, Calif. - The Dallas Burn battled the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 0-0 draw tonight at the Rose Bowl. Burn goalkeeper Matt Jordan came up with several huge saves on the night to preserve the tie and to register his third shutout of the season and his second in a row. The Burn, undefeated all-time in overtime matches (1-0-4), were fortunate not to be on the losing end just two minutes into overtime tonight. Luis Hernandez received a ball on the right flank, springing the Galaxy on a two-on-one towards the Dallas goal. Hernandez brought the ball into the box and had only Burn 'keeper Matt Jordan to beat from eight yards out. His left-footed shot was kick saved by Matt Jordan to preserve the tie. After a fairly even first half which saw both teams even in shots, the Burn defense withstood several quality scoring chances by Los Angeles in the second half. The Galaxy's best chance of regulation came early in the second half. In the 49th minute a Greg Vanney through ball was misjudged in the air by Burn defender Ryan Suarez. The ball fell behind him and to a waiting Luis Hernandez all alone 12 yards from goal. Hernandez took one touch to settle the ball before firing a right-footer toward the lower-left corner of the goal. Burn 'keeper Matt Jordan came up big, however, diving to his right to parry the ball away. Dallas nearly tallied in the 71st minute as Jorge Rodriguez played a ball to Ariel Graziani at the top of the box. Graziani unleashed a left-footed rocket that sailed just wide of the upper right corner of the goal. The Burn returns to action Wednesday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. vs. the San Jose Earthquakes at the Cotton Bowl.
