KANSAS CITY RALLIES FOR 3-2 VICTORY OVER BURN Burn Concedes Three Goals in Final 17 Minutes KANSAS CITY, Missouri - The Kansas City Wizards scored three goals in the final 17 minutes of the match and rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Burn tonight at Arrowhead Stadium. After the Burn built a 2-0 second half lead, the Wizards stormed back for the victory. Kansas City cut the Burn lead in half in the 73rd minute on a goal from Roy Lassiter, who had subbed in just 12 minutes earlier. Lassiter received a through-ball from Onandi Lowe just inside the box and unleashed a left-footer that beat Burn 'keeper Matt Jordan to the left post. Lassiter tied the game just two minutes later after a terrible miscue by the Dallas defense. Burn defender Antonio Martinez gave the ball away to Gary Glasgow on the right flank. Glasgow brought the ball into the box and sent a cross in front of the goal, with a sliding Lassiter redirecting the ball into the net. With the Burn appearing to be heading to their fourth straight overtime match, the Wizards got the game-winner in the 89th minute. Peter Vermes sent a corner kick into the box, with Lowe skying over Eric Dade to head the ball past a sprawling Jordan. Dallas opened the scoring in the 21st minute with Oscar Pareja's first goal of the year. Pareja took a feed from Antonio Martinez about 30 yards from goal and dribbled to the top of the 18-yard box. Once at the top of the box, he ripped a right-footer to the side netting in the upper left corner of the goal. Dallas doubled the lead in the 53rd minute on a brilliant ball from Joselito Vaca. Vaca received a ball just past midfield on the far right side of the field and sent a long ball over the defense to Ariel Graziani, who had broken behind the defense. Graziani brought the ball down with his chest in the box and, despite being pushed from behind, managed to slot the ball to the lower left corner of the goal. The Burn returns to the Cotton Bowl this Wednesday, July 18 vs. the Tampa Bay Mutiny at 7:30 p.m.
