This was almost one of the most devastating glosses in Burn history.  But give Dir full credit for making changes after he realized his mistakes. There is no way the Burn could have won this game with Santel at Sweeper and Suarez on the left. Suarez was getting absolutely butchered. He was pathetic, hate to say it but that could be the last we see of Suarez in a Burn uniform.. Santel was also hesitant at sweeper and his timing was off with both Zarco and Dade.

That being said, Dir made a couple of great changes. While Santel didn't win the game on the wing, he stopped the bleeding out there. The choice of Haynes at fullback was fairly inspired  It does show a weakness of the Burn: with Pollard out there are no backup defenders.

Another lineup prelim was the change to Dodd.  While Dodd has a lot of experience and Big game talent his timing can't be game sharp. Plus what does this do to Jordan's psyche. The kid's confidence is probably shattered and he is the man of the future.

Dir also deserves credit for the Emotional turnaround. If the Burn had gone done 2 goals like that last year, the would have lost 8-1 (oh yeah they did...) But this year, the team responded. The Midfield was the difference. Eck, Deering, and Pareja were inspired in the second half; all three played with guts and determination. Dir must have given a great halftime speech

Farrer has been nursing a sore groin and was on the subs bench, he should be back for Sunday.  Actually another gusty move by Dir, not risking his captain and thinking long term payoffs.

Santel started at sweeper and moved to left wing when Haynes came on for Suarez.  Haynes moved to marking back and Zarco to sweeper.  During the course of the rally Washington came in for Santel and played on the right wing moving Daniv to the left.  Trellez came in for Pareja to give the Burn three outright forwards.

It must be mentioned that Daniv schooled Gutierrez all game long.  It eventually became embarrassing with Gutierrez falling down on several occasions.

Chicago came out strong scoring 2 goals very quickly.  Then Rozov pulled a Hammy and Bradley was forced to bring in Dougherty, moving Podbrozny up top.  That was a difference maker and eventually allowed the tide to turn in midfield.  Ball was brought on for some fresh legs and pace, with the Klopas move in desperation after the Burn tied it up.

Los Angeles Game 1

After the debacle to start Chicago game 3, Farrer should be back and Santel will be back in midfield.  Who know what Dir will do in goal.  The smart money says Dodd, but you never know.

Chicago plays a fluid 4-4-2 with Ezra Hendrickson getting forward out of the right back spot.  In essence it is the same tactical formation of Real Madrid (Roberto Carlos on the left instead of right).  Simon Elliot should be back from suspension for his second yellow in game 1 versus Colorado.

In the past LA has come out more defensive vs Dallas, usually when on the road with Zak Ibsen instead of Ezra, but expect them to go full out in LA.   They do have some talent on the bench in Clint Mathis and Joey Franchino.
